The name of my home town is Kishoreganj. It is a district headquarters and is only 145 kilomiters north-east of Dhaka. The name ‘Kishoreganj’ came from the name of an old landlord known as Brojakishore pramanik  or nandakishore pramanik. The district consist of four municipalities, 13 upazilas, 110 unions, and 1794 villages. The area of kishoreganj town is 19.57squar kilomiters. The river narasunda flows across the town. There are many important  place in and around this small town. You can see the largest Eid ground known as Solakia Eid Ground, the pagla mosque and the well known Govt. Gurudayal College here. If you go out of the town, you will see the fort of Isha Khan at jangal Bari, the Shah Muhammad Mosque at Egaroshindhur and the Shiva temple of Chandrabati on the bank of fuleshwari river. Kishoreganj is also famous as the home of some of Bangla personalities. The first woman poet bangle literature Chandrabati was born here. Syed Nazrul Islam, the first acting president of Bangladesh is also from this town. Two popular writers of Children literature Upendrakishore Roy Chowdhury and Sukumar Roy are also from here. The great master of painting Zainul Abedin also comes from Kishoreganj. I am very proud of my home town.

There was an old house in a village. There lived a number of mice in that house. They were doing a lot of mischief there. The master of the house was very annoyed and made a plan to get rid of them. He bought a cat to kill the mice. The mice were in great difficulty. They could not move freely as before. They held a meeting to discuss the matter and find a way to be free from this danger. Several proposals were made but none of the proposals was good. At last a young mouse rose to speak. He said, “I have a good plan for your consideration. Let us tie a bell round the cat’s neck. Then we will here him coming and be able to hide ourselves in time.” All the mice thanked the young mouse for his plan. But an old mouse stood up and said, “No doubt the idea is good. But who will tie the bell?” At this all remained silent. As there was none to tie the bell round the cat’s neck.
